HP and MobileBeat report on their plans to release devices based on webOS and flexible displays.
According to technical director Phil McKinney, the new technology of flexible displays, such as screens with electronic ink, ideal for the manufacture of devices on the OS from Palm.
Date of issuance of new devices is not yet known.
Apparently, the first device will Wristwatches for equipping the U.S. Army. The device, code-named Dick Tracy will display a map and other necessary military information. The use of durable flexible display and flexible materials that are resistant to external influences, will greatly improve reliability. Low energy consumption should allow the device to feed from the solar panels located on the surface.
HP promises to provide a prototype of the device during the year.
